CHIT 30 was a success and thanks to all League Of Women Bowlers who participated...great job!!!  Our own Founder did quite well by cashing in the singles event and Team event as well as bringing home a 2nd Place Team Competition trophy. Congrats all.

WooHoo!!!!  We started Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. at Rinaldi's Riverdale Lanes...Be There to cheer us on when you can!  We still have several vacancies so come on out and join us!
We've got 10 teams of 4 so far and can always use more women...so grab your friends and come out and bowl with us.

Newest GLBT League  "The Rainbowl League"

CC Ford has a new league of gay men and women forming November 1st at the AMF College Park Lanes in Maryland bowling on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. with teams of 3 per team for $18 per week.  Each bowler finishing the full season gets a pair of Ruby Red Bowling Shoes!  For more info visit:    http://www.therainbowlleague.com

The tournament went well...the Women's Social Event was a success!

League Of Women Bowlers had 24 registered bowlers and a team that placed 8th in team events! CONGRATULATIONS!

GRITS Women's Only Tournament

 held in Richmond, Va will take place Friday, June 3-5th 2011...sign up at www.igbo.org

 Last year's weekend (June 5th-6th 2010) had 20 League Of Women Bowler members participate.The only IGBO Women's Tournament on the East Coast was hosted by Meg Powell and her committee with hospitality like none other!!! We congratulate her and her committee for a wonderful tournament and look forward to next year!  We all had a ball and came home with many awards and recognition status above and beyond our wildest dreams.  DC has passed the law for Same-Sex Marriages!!! Way to go DC. Many couples will marry in DC as of March 9th 2010!

AWARDS BANQUET

 

Our Annual Awards Banquet is our way of honoring our bowlers for their many and varied  accomplishments  with their bowling skills.  Our supporters are also welcome to join us in this recognition. We've had quite a few leaps and bounds this season...from becoming the Largest Women's League on the East Coast accepted into the International Gay Bowling Organization to record membership enrollment of 85 women into the league.

 We had a ball and everyone was elated.

The League Of Women Bowlers became the first women's league to win the CARA End-Of-Season Tournament held March 28th 2009! The competition is between all of the CARA leagues. This is the first season a Maryland league has won also, so we bring honors to CARA in many ways. CONGRATULATIONS ladies! This honor will be ours for the next year until the tournament is held at our lanes in Riverdale,Md. With the advantage of bowling on our own lanes it looks like we may shock the CARA tradition once again...woohoo!

Team DC and the GLBT Community at the Gay Games IX Rally

*** Team DC has proposed a bid to host the Gay Games IX in DC year 2014...there was a Rally (in support of the bid proposal) on Saturday, Feb 21st at 11a.m. at the Kennedy Rec Center...it was a huge success...congrats to Team DC and the LGBT community.


 ***IGBO (International Gay Bowling Organization) voted to accept membership of the League of Women Bowlers at their Mid-Year Membership Meeting in San Diego, California Nov 15, 2008. We are 1 of 7 international lesbian leagues and the largest lesbian East Coast League in IGBO. 


***DC Bid 2010 was also voted in to host the IGBO Mid-Year Tournamant here in DC November 2010...our league will play a major

role in the women's events since CC is the DC IGBO Mid-Year Women's Social Chairperson...we look forward to the challenge with enthusiasm. 


 

Our Fall season got off to a great start with the joining of

57 new members and 87 total women bowlers!

...so that now gives us 16 teams of 4 members each (some teams have a 5th member/alternate) and we have a total of with 15 subs.

We can only add substitutes as the league is now full for 08-09.

Let's see how many we can get for next season.....come on and join us as a substitute,

 you won't regret it and that's for sure!!! ...woowee!!!

     every Sunday...a sub can bowl when a team member is absent...a sub joining must 

     pay the $19 Sanction Fee and does not pay the weekly fee whenever they sub for an 

     absent bowler) 


  *** CONGRATULATIONS to our league Founder CC Ford on two 

     very special events in her life...1st, she drove to Hollywood

     California with her partner Joyce and they legally married  on

    July 17th! and 2nd, Team DC Sports First Annual Champion's

    Awards Reception honored sports leaders in our community

    including CC Ford with the MVP Award for her work throughout

    the past year with our league!!! What an honor on both

    accounts... congratulations CC...way to go!!!

*** Capital Pride Weekend was spectacular...we were represented in the parade

     on Saturday with several members that marched with the CARA group and

     again at the CARA table during Sundays events downtown...

*** AWARDS BOWLING BANQUET2009 was a huge success...many awards, trophies, certificates and worthy recognitions were given.      


*** League of Women Bowlers Rocked the Richmond GRITS Tournament the weekend of May 30th!!!

Bringing home the honors of All Events 2nd Pl was "Say Say" and she also got awarded for 1st Pl in the Singles Competition and her Partner Toni Kelly and her took honors for 1st Pl in the Doubles

Competition...Pooh and Julia took 3rd in Doubles and Nadine took 3rd in Singles...CC and Vanessa took pride in being awarded also

...even though it was for Low Score Doubles...lol...it was all good because their team took honors for having the Best Team Name "Entyceeingly Good"!!!  Thanks to Meg Powell (Tournament Director) and her great group of ladies for sponsoring such a fun tournament...we'll be back  next year for GRITS...


*** CC also participated in the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO) in Atlanta, Ga at their Annual Memorial Day Weekend Tournament ...as a bowler and as the Chairperson of the Ladies Social for the 2010 Bid for DC ...DC lost out on the bid to host this awesome tournament in 2010 to the

Columbus, Ohio group but we racked up in the winnings with one of our male CARA League members  winning the top awards in just about every category...congratulations to all our CARA Bowlers who represented DC quite well......it was fabulous!!!

Our members participated in one of their first ever tournaments: the CARA Intra-League Tournament

They won 8 games and lost 2 to  place 2nd Overall and 3rd in the Finals!!! Woohoo!!! Way to go ladies...
